OnsBrabantNet Fiber optic internet webshop – UX/UI Design

Fiber optic in Eindhoven, and the surrounding area, was provided by local internet, television and telephone provider OnsBrabantNet from Eindhoven. OnsBrabantNet has been part of KPN since 2012. Even before the takeover, I was asked to improve the UX/UI Design of the webshop.

Super fast internet connection via fiber optic
OnsBrabantNet focused primarily on the local telecom market in Brabant and Limburg, with a focus on internet via fiber optic connections. Because of my experience with the UX/UI Design of webshops and KPN, I was asked for this e-commerce re-design project.

Freelance UX/UI Designer for KPN
From 2007 to 2015 I worked as a freelance UX & UI and Visual Designer for KPN. My extensive experience with large e-commerce environments and telecom brands such as KPN, T-Mobile, Hi and Telfort was one of the reasons for OnsBrabantNet to approach me for a redesign of the OnsBrabantNet webshop.

No strict corporate identity guidelines

Lots of freedom
I worked in Eindhoven in a small but dedicated team. Besides myself, as a UX designer, the team consisted of a Front-end Developer, several Content Managers, an Online Marketer and a Project Manager. The brand style guidelines weren't very strict and that gave us a lot of freedom to go about things. And freedom and a small team are things that allow me to perform well.

New checkout process
Subsequently, a completely new ordering and payment process was designed for the fiber optic webshop. Forms, product overview and product detail pages and the shopping cart page were extensively researched and then redesigned.

Short lines
In particular, the short lines of communication (I was literally sitting next to the Front-end Developer), no unnecessary meetings, a relaxed, small team and many possible improvements in the webshop conversion, made this a fun project to work on.
