Sock Design for luxury socks webshop Felix Flos
In 2018, Ritu Ramlal, together with his partner and co-owner, Hedy Bootsma, set up a webshop. FelixFlos.nl sells self-produced more luxurious socks in the somewhat higher market segment. Ritu previously approached me as a Freelance UX/UI Designer to take the webshop design to a higher level.
Because the collaboration between Felix Flos and Mr. Upside was successful, I was asked to also provide designs for the socks sold on the webshop. An interesting challenge because I've never designed socks before.
The process I followed
Pinterest board
Naturally, I first did extensive research into the right style for the design of the socks. In which I included setting up a ‘sock design’ Pinterest board with 152 pins to save all the inspiration and share it with Felix Flos.
More luxurious market segment
I already knew Felix Flos well. From the earlier project where I delivered the UX/UI Design of the webshop. Felix Flos produces and sells socks in the slightly more luxurious segment. And although the socks can of course also be worn outside a business context, that is what Felix Flos focuses on.
That slightly more luxurious style and focus on a certain target group has been included in the designs of the socks.
Template
Because I didn't design socks before, I didn't have a single file suitable for:
make the sock designs in a way that the sock manufacturer could easily process them
show the sock designs to Felix Flos
That's why I searched for, and found, a good image of a template online. One that also incorporated the colours and specific technical information such as dimensions. I took the image I found as the foundation for a custom set up Figma file. A file that also featured the Felix Flos branding.
Delivery
After a few rounds of feedback from Felix Flos, the templates, along with the base files, were delivered to the sock manufacturer.
And now the socks are live and for sale in the Felix Flos webshop:
